Frequently asked questions

What file conversions does Toolspace support?

Toolspace covers spreadsheet conversions (XLSX ↔ CSV, XLSX → PDF, XLSX → XML), data-format conversions (CSV ↔ JSON ↔ XML ↔ YAML), archive utilities, and specialty format transforms. All powered by SheetJS and native browser parsers.

Do my Excel files upload when I use Toolspace?

No. Every conversion runs in your browser using SheetJS (community edition, MIT-licensed) and JSZip. Financial data, HR spreadsheets, and other confidential workbooks stay on your device.

Can Toolspace handle large workbooks?

Yes — up to about 500,000-800,000 rows depending on cell density. Excel's own maximum is 1,048,576 rows per sheet; browser memory becomes the real limit before then.

Are formulas and formatting preserved during conversion?

Cell data types and formulas are preserved for XLSX-to-XLSX operations. Cell styling (colors, borders) is preserved when the target format supports it. Charts survive XLSX → XLSX but are lost in text-only targets like CSV.

Can I convert Google Sheets exports?

Yes. Export your Google Sheet as .xlsx (File → Download → Microsoft Excel), then drop it into any Toolspace conversion tool.

Which converter should I try first?

Split Excel is a favorite — it takes a multi-sheet workbook and produces one .xlsx (or .csv) per sheet, packaged in a ZIP for easy download.
